ABOUT HINOKI ASUNARO

Inherent

Hinoki asunaro is a coniferous tree unique to Japan. It is deeply rooted in Japanese culture and has long been prized as a building material for temples and shrines. It is used for the bridge planks of the Uji Bridge at Ise Jingu Shrine, and Chuson-ji Konjikido, built about 900 years ago, still retains its original appearance.

Rarity

About 80% of Hinoki asunaro trees grow naturally in Aomori Prefecture (mainly in national forests). It reaches adolescence in about 100 years (other trees reach maturity in 20-30 years), and takes 200-250 years to be used as a building material.

Aomori hiba, which is indigenous to Japan, contains a component called hinokitiol, which has a variety of beneficial effects, including relaxing, antibacterial, deodorizing, and insect repelling effects.

Relax

The woody aroma, which is like taking a forest bath, helps relieve stress.

Antibacterial

It has outstanding antimicrobial properties against many bacteria, including mold, compared to other trees.

Deodorization

Aomori hiba's antibacterial properties also prevent odors caused by bacteria. It eliminates unpleasant odors and leaves behind an aromatic fragrance.

Protection from insects

It is said that termites do not gather in Aomori hiba houses, and it is known for its repellent and insecticidal effects against insects.
